On Thursday, university students took to the streets for the second day in a row to protest the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ strike.
Protesters dubbed “The University of Streets” marched along the Ugbowo-Lagos expressway in Benin City.
The walk was supposed to end in the city’s Ring-Road area.
Other students and concerned Nigerians were to join the students in their protest at Ring Road.
The students had taken their protest to the city’s King Square area on Wednesday, demanding an end to the strike.
They stated that they are tired of being cooped up at home, cut off from their academic pursuits.
While they appealed to the relevant authorities to investigate the issues that led to the strike in order to reach a resolution, the students lamented seeing their dream of graduating stall.
