Anchor University, Lagos, has introduced a 10-year strategic roadmap aimed at driving the institution’s growth and development, including plans to relocate to its permanent site near the Deeper Life International Conference Centre in Mowe, Ogun State.

The development was announced during the inauguration of the university’s third governing council at the Senate Chambers of the institution, according to a statement made available on Tuesday.

The roadmap, which covers 2026 to 2036, was developed by the Board of Trustees of the faith-based university to provide direction for its next phase of growth.

Speaking at the council’s inauguration, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Obinna Nkemjika, said the new council would be responsible for driving the implementation of the strategic plan.

“The governing council will receive these documents and pursue their passionate implementation to ensure full realisation,” Nkemjika said.

He noted that the university had experienced substantial growth in student enrolment and infrastructure over the past five years.

“During this period, student enrolment has grown from about 600 to over 2,700, as new courses and departments were created,” he said.

Nkemjika said the governing council would also provide strategic direction to the university’s management while ensuring effective administration and continued advancement of the institution.

“As we welcome you to the governance of the university, we wish to remind you that the governing council is the key organ of the university charged with taking strategic decisions for the smooth running and advancement of the university,” he said.

He identified the proposed relocation to the permanent site near the Deeper Life International Conference Centre in Mowe as one of the major priorities of the 10-year development plan.

The newly inaugurated Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Joel Babalola, said the council would emphasise collaboration as part of efforts to improve the university’s competitiveness.

Babalola noted that stronger collaboration between students and academic staff could contribute to developing solutions to challenges facing the country.

“With collaboration, we’ll be able to create things in Nigeria and solve problems locally. So, we believe that with God, all things are possible,” he said.
