Lecturers employed by the Academic Staff Union of Universities have been paid in full for the month of November 2022.
Additionally, reports has it that the Federal Government continued to hold back the eight-month arrears.
This information was made known in Abuja on Wednesday during a conversation with a top member of the union at Bayero University Kano.
According to reports, the Federal Government failed to pay the lecturers on strike for the eight months that their union was on strike.
According to Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, the lecturers were also paid pro rata (half-pay) in October 2022.
Educators from all throughout the nation have been demonstrating against this Federal Government decision.
In the upcoming days, the union’s National Executive Council is anticipated to convene an important meeting regarding the unpaid wages.
