The Katsina State Government has approved a one-week break for teachers and students in the state’s primary and secondary schools ahead of the major Sallah festival, Eid-ul-Adha.
Alhaji Ya’u Jibrin, the interim Permanent Secretary of Education, stated in a statement that the decision was made to allow pupils to celebrate the 2023 Eid-el Kabir festival with their families on June 28.
The holiday as contained in the statement is with effect from Monday, 26 June to Monday, 3rd July. However, Ya’u stated that boarding students will return on Sunday, July 2nd, while day students will return on Monday, July 3rd.
The statement reads in part: “That approval has been given for a one-week Sallah break to all Public, Community and Private Schools across the State with effect from Monday 26th June to Monday 3rd July 2023.
“The Ministry of Education, therefore, wished all staff and students a happy Sallah celebration.”
