The Ogun State-owned Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, has been closed indefinitely, effective Monday,  January 13, 2025, due to ongoing student protests.

The institution’s management announced the closure to safeguard lives and property, following student unrest over the verification of National Diploma results from their previous schools.

In a statement issued by the Polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajibola, the management reaffirmed its strict policy against fraudulent academic records.

“Management expressed its zero tolerance to fake results from any quarters,” Ajibola stated.

He further advised students to vacate the campus immediately for their safety, assuring parents and the public that updates would be provided as the situation evolves.

The protests also stem from grievances over an alleged increase in tuition fees and delays in mobilising Higher National Diploma (HND) students for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The closure reflects the institution’s effort to address the growing tension and prevent further escalation of the unrest.
