Polytechnic Iresi Sets for Repositioning as Council Chair Extols Facilitator

A call has been made to the Iresi Zenith to rally round Prof. Samuel Olusegun Ayodele – a prominent son of Iresi Town and facilitator of the Polytechnic Iresi, in the bid to further push the Polytechnic to an enviable status in the comity of polytechnics in Nigeria. 

Chairman, Governing Council of the Iresi Polytechnic, Prof. Omolayo Ademola Ajayi, made this call during a joint meeting of the Council with leadership of the Iresi Zenith, a socio-cultural group with huge bias for aggressive development in Iresi Town.

Also, Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Kamoru Kadiri, has highlighted some of the plans up his sleeves to make the Polytechnic Iresi a household name as far as deliverance of quality education is in Nigeria.

The Council Chair who extolled the sheer commitment and dedication of Prof. Ayodele especially in relation with the continued growth of the Polytechnic, urged leadership of the Iresi Zenith to join resources with the professor to sustain and improve on the current developmental tempo being recorded in the Polytechnic. He sought concerted efforts to push the Polytechnic to national recognition.

In his words, the Council Chair said “I wish to call on the leadership of the Iresi Zenith to rally round the facilitator of the Polytechnic Iresi, Professor Samuel Olusegun Ayodele, who has sacrificed huge resources to bring to fruition, the dream of having a polytechnic in Iresi Town, on the need to sustain the Polytechnic’s growth and progress through commitment of time and financial resources.”

Corroborating the Chairman, a Council member, Prof. Ladi Osasona, enjoined the socio-cultural group to begin a strong succession plan to raise community-acceptable individuals to emulate the selfless services with which Professor Ayodele is synonymous with.

However, Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Kamoru Kadiri, while presenting situation report of his stewardship so far, emphasized the significance of the next accreditation to academic programmes being offered in the Polytechnic.

He also highlighted plans to mount the Preliminary Preparatory Class for JAMB (PPCJ), Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMB), National Certificate in Education (NCE) and Degree Programmes in order to expand frontiers of academic programmes in the Polytechnic.

The Rector, who seized the moment to inform the Council about the newly designed flag and anthem for the Polytechnic, also hinted that committees had been constituted to ensure sanity and standard operations in the system.

Dr. Kadiri also took out time to enumerate some of the challenges being faced by the institution which include: shortage of staff, bad road networks and the need to improve telecommunication services in the area.

Other issues raised at the meeting bordered on full preparation for the next accreditation exercises in the Polytechnic; the need to create a Board of Trustees (BoT) which was proposed to work hand-in-hand with the Governing Council; flow of information among the key stakeholders to avoid communication gap; need for the Polytechnic Management to always make the institution’s budget ahead and the need for all hands to be on the deck to ensure that The Polytechnic Iresi is taken to an enviable height.

Other stakeholders in attendance at the crucial meeting were; Barr. S. A. Fagbemi, Governing Council/Iresi Zenith member, Dr. Hammed Abodunrin, Alhaji Adekunle B. Yusuf, Alhaji Abolarinwa J. Adekunle and Chief ‘Kunle Adeniran.
