Nigerian actress Ayo Adesanya, has opened up about her personal life and how her marriage ended.
In a recent With Chude podcast interview, Ayo Adesanya confessed that she was in an abusive marriage for ten years, which forced her to become an alcoholic.
The mother of one described her trauma at the hands of her ex-husband, who allegedly beat her whenever he got the chance.
She went on to state that she couldn’t bring herself to go since she was embarrassed by what others would say.
Ayo Adesanya reveal that several of her coworkers, including as Bimbo Akintola, were aware of her situation and were disappointed that she did not escape the abusive marriage.
The movie star narrated how her ex threatened to pluck out her eyes with a knife and sent their 1-year-old son away to Ibadan because he was jealous of the attention she was giving their child.
Ayo Adesanya said when she finally left the marriage, she took a break from Nollywood but returned to rebuild her career. In her words:
“Anywhere my ex-husband saw me, he would beat me.
He beat me so much, I became an alcoholic. But I couldn’t leave because of the shame that people would say I couldn’t keep a man”.
Ayo Adesanya was married to Goriola Hassan, before they got divorced. They have a son together
