Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has offered advice to emerging talent in the entertainment industry.
She stressed the value of preparing, being genuine, and concentrating on one’s own objectives rather than conforming to social norms in a recent interview with Saturday Beats.
Bimbo Akintola urged young people to focus on their individual journeys rather than fitting into preconceived notions about their generation.
In order to gauge success and advancement, she emphasised the necessity of a five-year plan.
“My advice to young talents is to stop being Gen Z or Gen X or millennial and focus on what they want for their lives. Don’t follow everyone else; stand out. Do something for you. Don’t follow the trends; do what is most important. Think about your life; nobody told me this when I was younger. Have a five-year plan. That way, you will know if you are failing or succeeding.”
The actress also shared her personal frustration with being typecast in the same role repeatedly.
She highlighted the importance of versatility and switching between characters to tell diverse stories.
“One of the things I hate is being stuck; I don’t want to be stuck playing one character. I think it’s important to be able to move from character to character so one can tell different stories. Being stuck means you can only tell one kind of story. What I want is to be able to touch as many lives as possible, and to do that, one has to be different people.”
