Actress Iyabo Ojo speaks on why she allowed her ex-husband at their daughter’s wedding

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has explained why she chose to have her ex-husband present at their daughter’s wedding.

Priscilla tied the knot in April 2025 in a series of wedding ceremonies held in Lagos and Tanzania.

Speaking during an interview with Morayo Afolabi-Brown, Iyabo said her decision was driven by her belief in breaking negative ancestral patterns and fostering a healthier family legacy.

Iyabo noted that her parents were divorced, and she did not want her children to experience the same.

The mother of two stated that she had resolved that whatever challenges she faced in her own marriage would not affect her children.

According to her, she paid the price to ensure her daughter succeeds and is happy in marriage.

She added that since her daughter’s father is alive, there was no reason he should not be present at the wedding.

She further explained that the issues between her and her ex-husband had nothing to do with their daughter, and he had not wronged the child.

“So I don’t know there’s something called ancestral curses, and we Africans believe it. I believe if you don’t want something to continue, you have to be able to break it. I made up my mind that whatever situation had happened caused my dad, my mom, also, you know, were not together- yeah, every mistake they had made that I have made, my children will not make it.

“I have paid the price for her to succeed, for her to be happy in her marriage; her father is not dead; he’s alive, so why can’t he be there. He didn’t wrong her; he and I fell out, and it has nothing to do with her,” she said.
