Actress Teniola Aladese has spoken out against societal norms that assign household duties mainly to women.

In a recent interview, Teniola questioned why domestic responsibilities are commonly seen as a woman’s obligation instead of a shared duty. She expressed frustration over the outdated belief that women are expected to handle cooking, cleaning, and other household tasks simply because of their gender.

“Why can’t a man wash a plate? Why do we keep perpetuating these gender stereotypes? A woman will cook, wash plates, and the man will just work. But women also work. We go out there, we hustle just like them. Why is it that the moment we come home, it’s the woman who has to do everything? Cook, clean, wash… everything!” she asked.

Teniola stressed that women play active roles both in their careers and at home, and she called for a more balanced sharing of household duties between men and women.
