Alleged defamation: Primeboy threatens legal action against Mohbad’s mother

Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Primeboy, a close associate of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has refuted claims made by Mohbad’s mother, Abosede Adeyemo-Aloba, regarding their relationship.

In an online interview, Mohbad’s mother alleged that Primeboy had conflicts with her son before his passing, accusing him of consistently complaining about being neglected after Mohbad achieved fame. Primeboy, through a statement issued by his lawyer, Akinpelu Ogunbona, and obtained by *PUNCH Metro* on Saturday, addressed these accusations.

The statement reads, “In the interview, you alleged that our client always fought with the late Mohbad and constantly complained about being neglected since Mohbad rose to stardom. You further claimed that our client was advised to flee after Mohbad’s death to avoid suspicion regarding his demise.”

Primeboy condemned the accusations, calling them defamatory and asserting that they were deliberately aimed at damaging his reputation. He further claimed that the allegations had negatively impacted his relationship with fans and supporters, stating, “Your actions are intended to harm our client’s integrity, and the false claims have significantly affected the affection and support he receives from his fans worldwide.”

Primeboy has demanded that Mohbad’s mother retract her statement within seven days or face legal action.

Attempts to reach Mohbad’s mother for comment were unsuccessful, as she did not respond to calls or text messages by Sunday evening.

In August, Primeboy’s lawyer, Ogunbona, presented an argument on behalf of his client, suggesting that new information related to Mohbad’s death needed clarification. He requested that both Wunmi Aloba and the police provide further details regarding a fight allegedly witnessed by Mohbad’s wife at their home. The coroner adjourned the case to allow for these witnesses to appear in court at the next hearing.

Mohbad, who died at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023, left behind unresolved questions about the circumstances of his death, sparking widespread speculation on social media. His passing led to the arrests of individuals including Naira Marley and controversial socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry. Mohbad’s body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
