Nollywood star Kate Henshaw attended the judgment of Doctor Olufemi Olaleye, the medical director of the Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, who was facing allegations of sexual assault against his wife’s niece. The hearing took place at the Ikeja Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court on Tuesday.

Olaleye faced two charges related to defilement and sexual assault by penetration against his wife’s niece, as filed by the Lagos State Government. He was brought to court on November 30, 2022, and he entered a not guilty plea to the charges.

The alleged incident occurred at No. 17 Layi Ogunbambi Close in Maryland, Lagos State.

Doctor Olaleye faced accusations of engaging in non-consensual sexual intercourse with his wife’s 15-year-old niece. Additionally, he was charged with sexually assaulting the teenager by forcing her to engage in oral sex.

The prosecution argued that these actions violated the provisions of Sections 137 and 261 of the 2015 Criminal Law of Lagos State.

Following the defendant’s plea of not guilty, Judge Oshodi granted him bail in the amount of N50 million with two sureties in the same amount, who must own landed properties in Lagos State.

The judge also ordered that both sureties must provide evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government for the past three years. Judge Oshodi further ordered the defendant to deposit his international passport, including his British passport and original documents of landed property, with the court registrar.

After the conclusion of the trial, the court has scheduled judgment for today, October 24, 2023.
