The father of Nigerian artist Asake, Fatai Odunsi, claims that he and the musician have settled their disagreement.
A widely shared video that was taken Sunday in what looks to be Odunsi’s home in Isale Eko, Lagos, including his remarks.
In an earlier monologue, he had pleaded for money to help him deal with his failing health. The singer promptly denied his accusation that Asake had ignored him for years.
Asake argued that he had sent money so many times to his father and that he was being pressured.
In a counter-claim, his family accused him of also neglecting his alleged 11-year-old daughter Zeenat, and her mother Adijat.
As the public backlash followed, Odunsi would release yet another footage to disclose that the dispute with Asake had been resolved.
He said Asake reached out to the family and agreed to shoulder some financial obligations that would cater to his ill health.
“I am proud of him. He will never fall. It’s just that it had been a while since I last saw him. Even his mother should have asked him when last he saw me. She didn’t. That was what enraged me,” Odunsi said.
“Asake has listened to me. He says he would gift me whatever I want. He has asked that a house be bought for me.
“They’re still looking for a good one to buy. He’s already looking for it here in Lagos. He and I have settled.
“He has spoken to me. He has agreed to take care of his daughter. There was never a time when he denied his daughter.”
