Nigerian music sensation Ahmed Ololade, often known as Asake, has emerged as the most listened-to Nigerian musician on Spotify in 2024.

This was revealed by the streaming behemoth on Wednesday at its yearly end-of-year summary, “Wrapped,” which showcases the musical tastes of listeners worldwide.

Asake’s supremacy went beyond individual streams; his albums Mr. Money With The Vibe, Lungu Boy, and Work of Art all took first place among the year’s most-streamed Nigerian albums.

Interestingly, Young Jonn’s Jiggy Forever took the crown for the most-streamed album of 2024, showcasing the diversity in listeners’ choices.

Meanwhile, Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy continues to make waves internationally.

He was named Nigeria’s most-exported artist and the only Nigerian to break into the UK’s top 100 artists for 2024.

In other news, South African music sensation Tyla has made history, surpassing global superstar Beyoncé to claim the title of the most streamed album by a Black female artist released in 2024.

Tyla’s self-titled debut album amassed an impressive 1.565 billion streams on Spotify, overtaking Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, which garnered 1.564 billion streams.

This achievement also crowns Tyla as the artist behind the most streamed album ever by a female African artist

The album’s lead single, Water, has been a monumental success, nearing the one-billion-stream mark on Spotify.

The track earned Tyla her first Grammy, winning the inaugural Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammy Awards.
