The Lagos State Police Command has stated that they have not received the autopsy report for the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, despite the autopsy being conducted two months ago.

Today, November 21, 2023, marks the two-month anniversary since the late Mohbad’s body was exhumed for an autopsy to uncover the cause of his death.

Mohbad’s demise on September 12 stirred controversies, prompting the police to establish an investigative team to determine the circumstances surrounding the singer’s passing.

In September, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, tweeted that the autopsy had been concluded, and the police were awaiting the results.

In October, the then Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, identified prime suspects in connection with the singer’s death. Owohunwa disclosed that Mohbad vomited and developed goosebumps after being injected three times by nurse Feyisayo Ogedemgbe on September 12, 2023. Subsequently, some of the suspects were charged in court.

Last Friday, the state Police Command released singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and Balogun Samson, also known as Sam Larry, after the duo fulfilled their bail conditions. They had been arrested as part of the investigation into Mohbad’s death following the circulation of online videos depicting assault against the late singer.

When questioned on Monday about the release of Mohbad’s autopsy report, Hundeyin disclosed that the command had not officially received the report.

Hundeyin stated, “The autopsy report has not been given to us. Some people have been carrying rumours that it’s ready. It’s one thing for it to be ready, it’s another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it. So, we don’t work with rumours, we work with facts.”

On Saturday, Nigerian artiste Bella Shmurda appealed to the police to release the remains of Mohbad.

On his X account late Saturday, Bella conveyed apprehensions regarding the extended delay in the release of Mohbad’s body, which has been held for autopsy for the past two months.

He urged the police to expedite the process and release the body, emphasizing the importance of facilitating a dignified funeral arrangement. Furthermore, Bella called for the swift disclosure of the autopsy results.

He wrote, “It’s been over two months since Mohbad died and his body was taken in for autopsy but yet no result, which is fine but please release his body. That boy needs a befitting burial and to go to rest finally. Naija Police, what’s going on? We need an answer here: where is the result? Where is his body?”

But Hundeyin further said only the singer’s family lawyer could write to the pathologists to release the autopsy result or it would be independently given to the police when it is ready.
