British singer, Elton John opens up on battling with eye infection

The seasoned British musician Sir Elton John has shared details of his battle with an eye infection.

The 77-year-old said that the infection has left him with “limited vision” in one of his eyes in a statement that he personally signed.

The crooner of “I’m Still Standing” disclosed that his recuperation has proceeded incredibly slowly.

“l’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye. I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,” the statement read in part.

John added that he is “feeling positive about the progress I have made in healing and recovery thus far.”

The septuagenarian announced his retirement from touring a few months ago.

His farewell tour which ended early last year, bringing in $939 million (£749 million) over 328 shows, was the highest-grossing music tour in history before the record was overtaken by Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour ($1 billion).

Last year in August, John was hospitalised after falling at his villa in Nice, France. He was later transported to the Princess Grace hospital’s orthopedic centre in Monaco where he received precautionary treatment.

“We can confirm that following a slip yesterday at his home in the South of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure,” John’s rep told the Daily Mail Today.

“Following check ups, he was immediately discharged this morning and is now back at home and in good health.”
