British TikToker in prison for smuggling cocaine in Peru

A British model and TikToker, Modou Adams, has been imprisoned for nearly seven years in a Peruvian prison for attempting to transport cocaine out of the country.

According to reports,  Adams was apprehended at Jorge Chávez International Airport on September 30th, with 2.9kg (6.4lb) of concealed cocaine in his luggage.

The 25-year-old received a prison sentence of six years and eight months in Peru.

The court statement revealed that the drugs were intended for the United Kingdom. The Superior Court of Justice of Callao disclosed that authorities discovered the concealed drugs at the back of his suitcase during a search, and this statement was released last week.

Adams admitted to the drug smuggling charge, leading to his sentencing and a fine, as confirmed by the court.

Peru’s Supreme Court, in a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter), stated that Adams had been imprisoned for orchestrating the shipment of approximately 3kg of cocaine to London. The court also shared a manipulated image of Adams appearing behind bars.

The most recent images shared on Adams’ social media profiles depicted his visit to Machu Picchu, a renowned tourist attraction in Peru along the Inca Trail.

Local media cited anti-drug prosecutor Lincoln Fuentes, who noted that this wasn’t the first occasion when the model had attempted to transport drugs out of the country.

A spokesperson from the UK Foreign Office commented, “supporting a British man who was arrested in Peru” and was “in contact with the local authorities”.
