Burna Boy announces surprise album, to be released at midnight

The award-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy shocked fans by revealing the date of his eighth studio album’s release.

The singer announced that he would be releasing his new album at midnight on July 30 on his X page.

“A 12 a.m. album drop,” he wrote.

Fans were taken by surprise by the announcement. This was because the “African Giant” hitmaker did not, as was anticipated, tease the body of work.

A lot of admirers conjectured that the singer, 33, might be playing a practical joke on us.

Burna Boy recently celebrated the fifth anniversary of his Grammy-nominated 2019 album “African Giant” with a show at the Koko Camden, which was followed by the stunning announcement.

In a nother story, Burna Boy will be holding a special live event as part of YouTube Music Nights to commemorate the five  years since the release of his album “African Giant.”

Fans from all over the world will be able to watch the event, which is scheduled for July 26, 2024, live on Burna Boy’s YouTube page.

In honour of Burna Boy’s album “African Giant’s” milestone, Addy Awofisayo, Head of Music at YouTube in Africa, expressed excitement about having him perform on YouTube Music Nights.

He went on to explain how the album holds a special significance for him, marking a turning point in his career and serving as a strong representation of African pride.
