Grammy-winning Nigerian musician Damini Ogulu, also known as Burna Boy, has set a new record for the highest-grossing tour by an African artist.
He accomplished this when his “I Told Them” tour brought in $15.5 million from 15 performances, with the earnings from six additional shows still pending.
Touring Data, an American tour data organisation, revealed this information on X on Thursday through a series of posts.
In addition, Burna Boy broke his own record in Boston’s TD Garden on March 7, 2024, by earning $1.725 million at Capital One Arena in Washington, the highest-grossing arena show by an African musician in the United States.
With an average ticket price of $172.76, his March 12 performance at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood became the most expensive concert by an African musician in history.
His six-show Canadian tour brought in $5.7 million, the most ever for an African artist.
