Afrobeats artists Yemi Alade, Wizkid, Asake, Burna Boy, Tems, and Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay have been nominated for the Best African Music Performance category at the 67th Grammy Awards.
The category, introduced last year, saw South Africa’s Tyla win the inaugural award for her hit song Water. This year, anticipation is high as Nigerian artists dominate the nominations.
The Nominees:
- “Tomorrow” – Yemi Alade
Yemi Alade earns her first solo Grammy nod for Tomorrow, a track blending Nigerian and South African rhythms. - “MMS” – Asake & Wizkid
Asake and Wizkid team up on MMS, a standout track from Asake’s Lungu Boy album. - “Sensational” – Chris Brown feat. Davido & Lojay
The inclusion of Chris Brown in the category has sparked debate, as he could become the first non-African winner. - “Higher” – Burna Boy
Burna Boy, a Grammy veteran, continues his streak with Higher, marking his sixth consecutive nomination. - “Love Me JeJe” – Tems
Tems leads with three nominations, including Best African Music Performance for Love Me JeJe, a standout from her debut album Born in the Wild.
The winners will be announced at music’s biggest night in Los Angeles, with fans eagerly awaiting to see who takes the crown.
