Nigerian chef Temitope Adebayo, popularly known as Tope Maggie, has reportedly set a new Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon. He surpassed the previous record of 119 hours and 57 minutes held by Irish chef Alan Fisher.

According to Oyo Affairs on Twitter (X), Chef Maggie successfully completed a 200-hour cook-a-thon, concluding in the early hours of Saturday, November 18.

The video’s caption read, ‘Congratulations to Chef Tope Maggie and his team for completing a 200-hour Cook-A-Thon, which came to an end at exactly 3am this morning.’

Tope reportedly surpassed Fisher’s record, achieving a 200-hour cook-a-thon, celebrated by cheering supporters at the venue.

The cook-a-thon commenced on Thursday evening, November 9th, and concluded on Saturday morning, November 18th. The event took place at Ogbomoso Recreation Club, opposite LAUTECH College of Health Sciences, Isale-General, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Tope is currently awaiting confirmation of his record by the Guinness World Records (GWR) as congratulations and celebrations continue to pour in for his remarkable achievement.

It’s worth noting that the previous holder of the title was Chef Hilda Baci, who was recently surpassed by Fisher.

Tope Maggie, a graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, where he studied Hotel Management, inherited the name ‘Maggie’ from his mother, from whom he learned the art of cooking.

Presently, Tope manages a chain of restaurants in Ogbomoso.
