Celebrated Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, better known by her stage as Simi, talked about the continual comparisons between her and her husband, fellow musician Adekunle Gold, in an interview with African Folder magazine.
The gifted singer-songwriter, who has made a name for herself in the music business, shared her thoughts on the subject and called the similarities “somewhat shallow.”
Simi, whose beautiful voice and meaningful lyrics have always won her praise from both fans and critics, said she expected these kinds of comparisons but that they fall short of appreciating the complexity and uniqueness of each artist’s style.
Despite being partners both personally and professionally, Simi emphasized the importance of recognizing and appreciating the distinctiveness of their artistry.
“The comparisons between me and my husband, although expected, are somewhat shallow,” Simi said during the interview.

As part of his “Tequilla Ever After” tour, Adekunle Gold made history this month, March 2024, by closing London’s OVO venue, which has a 12k capacity. He and his spouse, Simi, enthralled audiences with stunning theatrical performances that held the audience in awe.
One of the most memorable pictures from the occasion was when Simi—who was wearing a stunning pink outfit—broke off her performance to interact with her fans.
During this impromptu interaction, she wore a serious expression as she gestured towards her husband, Adekunle Gold.
