Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, better known by his stage as Davido, recently announced that he will donate N300 million to orphanages in celebration of his 32nd birthday.
On Monday morning, the singer revealed this on his X Twitter.
The head of the DMW record company clarified that the money would go to a nonprofit that combats teenage drug abuse and orphans.
Davido said he would provide additional information in later posts. The crooner of OBO wrote:
“Once again, for my birthday this year, we are donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse & addiction. This year is N300m. Details to follow soon.”
This is not the first time Davido has donated to charity in commemoration of his birthday.
In November 2021, Davido donated N250m to 292 orphanages in celebration of his 29th birthday
Recall that, Davido revealed intentions to contribute a total of N300 million to orphanages throughout Nigeria.
The artist stated that he would channel the donation through his organization, The David Adeleke Foundation, as his annual contribution to the country.
Davido, who disclosed this information via his X handle on Tuesday, pledged to unveil the distribution specifics the following day, Wednesday.
He wrote, “I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria… as my yearly contribution to the Nation.. details of disbursement tomorrow.”
