Afrobeats musician Omah Lay has disclosed how a few senior colleagues influenced his rise to fame.

In a recent interview, the ‘Soso’ singer mentioned Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Olamide has his footprints and prototype in his rise to prominence in the music industry.

He claims the artists named above aided him in developing into the person he is today and reaching his current level of success.

Omah Lay said he doesn’t know what he is doing differently to set himself apart from other musicians and his peers, but he is sure he is being authentic when writing songs.

He said: “I feel like I wouldn’t have been here if it weren’t for the previous generation, Burna, Wiz, Davido and Olamide they are the reasons why I am here right now and I am doing it like this. Yeah, I can’t say for sure what exactly it is that I am doing differently; I’m just doing me and it is what it is.”

Recall that Omah Lay recantly declared that he is taking a break from music.

He informed his fans not to anticipate hearing any new music from him very soon.

“I am not giving you new music anytime soon,” he wrote via his Instagram story recently.

He didn’t say why he took a hiatus from music. On the other hand, Omah Lay wrote, “I need a little more love,” in another post.

Many of his fans are in a panic after hearing of his declaration, and many of them are pleading with the artist to change his mind on social media.
