Davido’s father donates N1bn to church in memory of late mother

Davido’s father, Adedeji Adeleke, has given the Cheribum and Seraphim Church a donation of N1 billion.

During a Thanksgiving ceremony at the church’s Surulere, Lagos, headquarters, Adeleke gave the donation.

According to the singer’s father, he gave the money to the church’s centenary endowment fund in memory of his mother, Esther Adeleke.

“On behalf of our late mother, senior mother in Israel, late Mrs. Esther Adeleke, we want to contribute to the centenary endowment fund, the sum of N1 billion,” he said in the now-viral video.

Before she passed away, Esther Adeleke was the church’s senior mother-in-Israel.

The sister of the Osun governor, Module Adeleke Sanni, is the one holding the role at the moment.

The governor of Osun, Ademola Adeleke, was also present at the service and gave thanks to God for enabling him to be appointed.

Davido, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, and Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun were among the dignitaries who graced the Thanksgiving service.

Davido’s dad is well renowned for being a generous man.

Adeleke gave the federal government N500 million during COVID-19 to aid in the nation’s efforts to contain the pandemic.

Davido recently disclosed that his father gave him his stage name.

“Like I told you, I am the first generation entertainer. I don’t think he did not want me to do music, he just wanted me to be successful,” he said.

“So when I moved back to Nigeria, he did not know. Then he heard my voice on the radio, shouting Davido and he gave me that name. My dad gave me Davido. He just wanted me to go to school which I eventually did.”
