A Nigerian doctor based in Canada, Arinze Onwumelu, has urged singer Portable to get a brain scan after his celebrity boxing clash with skit maker Carter Efe in Lagos over the weekend.

The intense match, which drew major attention from fans and celebrities, ended with Portable losing, triggering reactions across social media.

In a post accompanied by a viral video, Onwumelu, widely known as Dr Zo, advised the singer to undergo a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan to check for any internal head injuries from the fight. He cautioned that repeated hits to vulnerable parts of the head could lead to serious health issues, including subdural hematoma, a potentially fatal brain condition.

“This is an exhibition match meant for entertainment, not a real fight to harm anyone,” he said. “I watched the video, and the kind of punches delivered—Portable may need urgent medical attention.”

The doctor also appealed to those around the singer to ensure he receives prompt medical assessment, including brain examinations, to detect any internal damage. He further urged organisers of celebrity boxing matches to require protective headgear to minimise the risk of severe injuries.

Before the bout, Portable had voiced strong confidence in his condition, saying he was prepared following earlier exhibition victories against rapper Speed Darlington and actor Charles Okocha.
