The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has refuted claims that Brymo Uchegbu, the Nollywood actor, collapsed on a movie set.

NewsClick Nigeria gathered that Uchegbu died on Thursday and was reported to have suffered a partial stroke with elevated blood sugar levels.

There were also reports that the actor collapsed in his hotel room in Ahoada, Rivers state after a film set.

In a statement on Friday, Emeka Rollas, president of the AGN, said Uchegbu’s death came as a shock to the Guild.

He said the Guild conducted an investigation and found that the actor did not collapse on set as widely speculated.

The President, however, pointed out that the event could have been “avoided” if there was a quick intervention.

Rollas went ahead to to state that some reports erroneously suggested that the actor died on set.

“I have taken reports from all the actors on the set with him and found out that he didn’t collapse on set as widely speculated,” Rollas said.

“While I commiserate with his immediate family, we have commenced a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, especially from the hospital where he was rushed to.

“I and the entire members of the Guild are saddened by this tragic development of a death that could have possibly been avoided if urgent intervention was provided.

“May Don Brymo’s soul rest in peace and may God comfort all of us left behind to mourn him.”

Brymo Uchegbu was born in November 26, 1966.

The actor is popular for his role in movies such as ‘Anger Of A Wonder Girl’ and ‘Ikemba’.

Other Nollywood films he has acted in are ‘Ritual of Vengeance’ and ‘Wedding in Nigeria’.
