Don Jazzy is one of Africa’s foremost music influencers – OAP Shopsydoo

Podcaster and Afrobeats hype man Adesope Olajide, better known by his stage name Shopsydoo, has discussed the changes in the Nigerian music industry and the part Don Jazzy played in them.

Shopsydoo provided insight into the Mavin Record label chief’s influence on Nigeria’s music industry during the radio talk.

He also talked about Wizkid’s claim that music producers have an influence.

Shopsydoo emphasised that Wizkid was impolite to music producer Don Jazzy and unacceptable to refer to him as an influencer.

In an interview with Fresh Off the Boat, Shopsydoo emphasised that Don Jazzy is one of Africa’s most important music influencers.

According to him, artists who have been recognised by Don Jazzy stand to benefit greatly from their success.

Shopsydoo further asserted that Don Jazzy’s tireless efforts over the past two decades played a crucial role in shaping Afrobeats into its current prominence.

Recall that, Wizkid recently caused a stir on social media with his latest tweets, in which he threw subtle shade at fellow artists, notably Don Jazzy, the Mavin Records boss.

The “Ojuelegba” crooner went on an insane journey on the microblogging platform, causing fans and followers to react and speculate.

Drama started when Wizkid, who is well-known for making provocative comments on social media, answered a fan’s request to speak with musician Ladipo on his X account.

In a series of tweets, Wizkid tackled various figures in the music industry, including Davido and Ladipo, before turning his attention to Don jazzy.

In a tweet aimed at Don Jazzy, Wizkid referred to him as an ‘influencer‘, a term that carries varied connotations in the music industry.

While the exact context of the shade remains open to interpretation, it undoubtedly caught the attention of fans and followers, igniting discussions and debates on social media.

“Wizkid Ladipo still talk nonsense yesterday o, Abeg enter that one too,” the fan said.
