Music producer and Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has donated N5 million to Nancy Chidinma, who is seeking N7 million to fund surgery and post-operative care for recurring keloids.
The donation was made on Saturday after a social media post appealed to the music executive to support Chidinma.
Confirming his contribution, Don Jazzy simply wrote, “5m sent.”
The appeal had been amplified by X user Akwaugo, who tagged Don Jazzy in a reply to Chidinma’s original post.
“Jesus Christ, I am just seeing this. @DONJAZZY please help sir. @Wizarab10 please raise it for ego,” Akwaugo wrote.
Chidinma, who uses the X handle @EgoKuwait, had earlier appealed to the public to help her raise N7 million for surgery and post-operative treatment for recurring keloids.
She explained that the condition had left her in constant pain and prevented her from working for several years.
She explained that the keloids developed after an ear piercing performed shortly after her birth was done incorrectly.
According to her, her parents have tried several treatment options over the years, but the growths have continued to recur.
She disclosed that she had undergone several surgical procedures at both public and private hospitals, with each removal usually followed by Kenalog injections. She also received cryotherapy treatment for two years at a specialised clinic.
According to her, the pain from the cryotherapy was so severe that it almost paralysed the left side of her body, leaving it weaker and difficult to use. Despite the treatments, the keloids continued to return.
Providing a breakdown of the expenses, Chidinma said each radiotherapy session at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital costs N2.5 million, bringing the total for two sessions to N5 million. She added that the surgery costs N1.2 million, which she has already raised.
She explained that the exact cost of chemotherapy and post-operative care was yet to be determined, but her research put the estimated amount at N2 million.
“In total, what will be needed for the successful surgery and postoperative care is N8.2m, of which I have already raised N1.2m, and I am left to source N7m before the 19th of November,” she said.
