Drake challenges XXXTentacion murder trial’s deposition

Drake, a Canadian musician who is better known by his stage name Audrey Graham, has responded to a subpoena requiring him to appear for a deposition in the XXXTentacion murder trial.

Drake was identified as a person of interest last week by Mauricio Padilla, an attorney for Derek Williams, one of the suit’s defendants.

Graham and XXX were at odds before Graham passed away, according to Padilla. The attorney cited a February 2018 Instagram post by the “Look at Me” rapper in which he used Drake’s account as a tag.

“If anyone tries to kill me it was @champagnepapi, I’m snitching right now,” the post read.

According to Rolling Stone, Drake’s attorneys contended in a recently filed motion that the original deposition subpoena was not properly served or accepted by the performer.

The motion read in part, “In a case such as this, it is both unreasonable and oppressive to subpoena an out of state party who has not been mentioned in any reports, any investigation, or referenced to have any involvement in this matter

“Based on the evidence so far provided in this case, there is video which purports to show the defendants allegedly as participants in the murder of the victim.”

The request for a deposition, it was further noted in the lawsuit, was “unreasonable” because there was no proof that the “God’s Plan” rapper “contributed to, had knowledge of, or participated in the alleged incident.”

In June 2018, as XXXtentacion left a Florida RIVA Motorsports dealership, two masked men shot and killed him. His real name was Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy.

A backpack that belonged to the rapper and held $50,000 in cash was also taken by his assailants.
