Renowned Nigerian Singer Kcee, also known as Kingsley Okonkwo, has voiced support for his senior counterpart, Eedris Abdulkareem, amidst their online controversy with ex-bandmates.

During an episode of the Honest Bunch Podcast, Eedris shared the details of the notorious 2004 airplane incident involving American rapper 50 Cent, who was the main act for the Nigerian Breweries music tour.

Eedris recounted sitting in the business class of the plane, disputed by 50 Cent’s crew who insisted it was reserved for the rapper. Eedris asserted his right to stay, citing an agreement with Nigerian Breweries for comparable treatment to 50 Cent.

The situation abruptly escalated into a physical altercation, allegedly captured by veteran cinematographer DJ Tee. This caught the eye of President Obasanjo, who then directed the Inspector General of Police to intervene.

According to Eedris, the incident served as a catalyst for Nigerian artists to gain respect both domestically and internationally.

In an interview with Naija 102fm, Kcee addressed the issue, highlighting that many discussing it weren’t present. As an eyewitness, he clarified that 50 Cent was not on the scene but in his car during the incident.

He emphasized that Eedris, despite any flaws, isn’t a bad person. Kcee acknowledged Eedris’s fight for the industry’s well-being but suggested it might have been pursued in an inappropriate manner.

“I dey inside that fight, I sidon near Eedris, in fact, I was at the back, it was Eedris who told me to come to the front. E-Money was the only cameraman there that videoed everything. E-Money was my manager and he was always holding a camcorder videoing everything. The slap dey take give E-Money take collect that content ehn. He was the only one that had the content that day.

“Before that are talking about the issue today, are just saying it based on hearsay and they were not there. I don’t talk about the matter, because it pains me. That’s how the industry has been for so many years. Eedris didn’t even see 50 Cent that day, he was inside a car, and no one even saw him.

“It was his team that saw Eedris seated where he was supposed to see. And to be honest, Eedris isn’t that bad though e get his own for body. But d fight wey Eedris dey fight na good fight but maybe wrongly”.
