Disc jockey and activist Catherine Udeh better known as DJ Switch, has spoken out during the continuing nationwide protests.
To draw attention to the nation’s economic problems, some Nigerians launched a national protest on Thursday called “10 Days of Rage” with the hashtag #EndBadGovernance.
Niger Delta activist Asari Dokubo advised organisers not to bring the protest to the area prior to the event, arguing that their program did not address their concerns.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Nyesom Wike, stated during a meeting with the security council on Thursday in Abuja that there is information indicating the protesters want to cause property damage.
He added that a senator allegedly sponsoring the protest has been identified.
In response on Friday, DJ Switch said the only solution to the people’s “hunger is food, not violence or intimidation”.
She also challenged Wike and Dokubo to “confront the protesters if they were not afraid”.
“The only thing that can stop HUNGER is FOOD! Not guns, not teargas, not threats from fat globs like Asari Dokubo and chicken feed Wike! I wonder why they are hiding now…. Come outside let them eat you raw!” DJ Switch said.
