Popular French fashion designer, Givenchy dies in his sleep
Popular aristocratic French fashion icon, Hubert de Givenchy, 91, has died in his country after failing to wake up from his sleep.
His partner told the press on Monday that the 91-year-old fashion designer passed on in his sleep on Saturday.
“It is with huge sadness that we inform you that Hubert Taffin de Givenchy has died,” Phillip Venet said in a statement.
Hubert de Givenchy was famous for the “Little black dress” and styling Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy.
AFP reports that Givenchy set the blueprint for ladylike chic in the 50s and 60s and his fashion sense played a major role in Queen Elizabeth II fashion sense.
His partner, Philippe Venet announced his death through the Givenchy fashion house. Venet said he died in his sleep on Saturday.
They lived in a Renaissance Chateau near Paris.
