Filmmaker Adanma Luke surrenders to police following boat disaster

Producer Adanma Luke, who was set to star alongside late actor Junior Pope in an upcoming movie, has surrendered herself in to the police.

Actor Pope passed away on Wednesday following his fall into the River Niger in Asaba, Delta state, while travelling to a filming site.

When the incident happened, the movie star was with a few other actors and crew members.

The Anambra police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, told TheCable Lifestyle on Friday that Luke had not been placed under arrest but had instead turned herself in to the authorities.

Ikenga added that the two boat drivers were also in custody amid an investigation into Pope’s death.

“She was not arrested, she came by herself, and her statement was obtained. We also have in custody the two boat drivers and interrogation is still ongoing,” he said.

“Early this morning, we have recovered the other three missing bodies. Further details shall be communicated please.”

Following Pope’s passing, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) had earlier stopped all films using riverine settings.

Filmmakers were also cautioned by AGN President Emeka Rollas not to collaborate with Luke “until further notice.”

Actor Tochukwu Okafor, well known as TC Virus, who survived the boat disaster, shared lately how he managed to avoid the same fate that took Pope’s life.
