‘For family, faith, finding purpose,’ Banky W relocates to US with family

Popular music executive cum politician, Bankole Wellington, fondly called Banky W, has announced his relocation to the United States with his family.

In an Instagram post, Banky W shared the reasons behind his decision, saying “family, faith, and finding purpose”.

The singer also revealed that he will be pursuing a masters degree in Policy Management at Georgetown University in Washington DC.

He posted photos with his wife Adesua and their son at the airport, as well as snapshots with loved ones, including music executive Eldee.

Banky W requested prayers and support as he embarks on his new journey.

“For family. For faith. For finding purpose. For the next year of earning a Masters degree in Policy Management at Georgetown University in Washington DC,” he wrote.

Adesua added, “home is wherever you are” in the comment section.

In July, Banky W announced he has enrolled for policy management at Georgetown University.

He said he “gave up” being a chief executive at a company to become a student again.

Banky W had his primary and secondary school education in Lagos before traveling to the US to study at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York.

In 2002, Banky W co-founded Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E) label with his friend Tunde Demuren. The music group housed artistes like Wizkid, Niyola, Shaydee, and Skales.

In 2005, he released his debut studio album titled ‘Back in the Building’.

As a musician, he is known for hit singles such as ‘Ebute Metta’, ‘Capable’, and ‘Yes/No’.

His work has earned him an avalanche of awards over the years.

Banky tied the knot with Adesua in South Africa in November 2017.

In 2021, they welcomed their first child Hazaiah.

Banky W recently ventured into politics.

In 2023, he contested the Eti-Osa federal constituency seat under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The singer-turned-politician, however, lost to Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party (LP).
