Nollywood films Jagun Jagun, Mai Martaba, and The Weekend took home multiple awards at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
The 20th edition of the prestigious event was held on Saturday, November 2, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos State, and was hosted by veteran Nollywood actor Segun Arinze and Ghanaian TV host and actress Joselyn Dumas.

Filmmaker and writer Dorothee Wenner chaired the 12-member jury committee for the awards.
The Daniel Oriahi-directed family drama The Weekend won the Best Film Award for both Nigeria and Africa.
Nollywood actor Femi Adebayo was named Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in the historical thriller Jagun Jagun.
Jagun Jagun, which received seven nominations, also took home the Achievement Awards for Visual Effects and Make-Up.
Mai Martaba, directed by Prince Daniel Aboki, won the award for Best Costume Design. The film delves into themes of power, love, greed, and betrayal within an ancient African kingdom, offering a transformative story that challenges norms and celebrates female leadership.
