Nigerian singer Niniola Apata has opened up once again about the pain of losing her husband, Michael Ndika, declaring that God “should’ve taken” her instead of him.

In a series of emotional posts shared on her Instagram story, the singer said God “decided to flex muscles” despite having the power to spare her husband’s life.

Niniola announced Ndika’s death on May 20, although details surrounding the circumstances of his passing were not made public.

The family later released burial arrangements, with a service of songs held on June 4 and interment scheduled for June 5.

In her latest posts, Niniola shared photographs from their court wedding in the United States, expressing the depth of her grief and stating that she could not imagine life without her husband.

The singer said she would rather have lost a part of herself or even her own life than lose the man she described as the one person who made life meaningful.

Reflecting on their relationship, she said they lived quietly and peacefully, but still suffered a devastating loss. She expressed anger and heartbreak over his death, questioning why he could not have been spared.

“I cannot live without Michael. God, you could’ve taken my kidney, an arm or a leg. You should’ve even taken me instead, but that one person that made my life worth it, you took away from me,” she wrote.

“We did not disturb anybody, just living lives on our own terms. What a jealous God you truly are because you had the power to spare him but decided to flex muscles. Kukumo, finish what you started na, I’m ready.”

The singer had previously credited Ndika as the driving force behind her music career, describing him as the “engine” of her success.
