Nigerian afro-house singer Niniola Apata has announced the passing of her husband, Michael Ndika.

The Grammy-nominated artiste shared the sad news in emotional posts on her Instagram page early Wednesday.

Ndika, who served as Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform dedicated to afro-house and contemporary African music, reportedly died under undisclosed circumstances.

In one of her posts, Niniola wrote, “God took him.” In another, she added, “My husband died.”

In a further message, she expressed her grief, saying, “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years.”

The cause of Ndika’s death has not been made public. Niniola has generally kept her personal life away from the spotlight and social media.

The singer, 39, rose to fame as the runner-up of the 2013 edition of Project Fame West Africa.

She later gained international recognition with her 2017 hit single Maradona, which earned praise from global stars including DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland, and Beyoncé.
