Gospel singer Tope Alabi has cautioned the public against spreading false and defamatory claims about her, warning that violators could face legal action.

The evangelist gave the warning in a public notice posted on her verified Instagram account, @tope_alabi_, on Friday. The post was captioned, “Please note this as regards any malicious video or speech against me.”

The notice, dated October 23, 2026, was issued by her solicitors, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, and signed by Toluwanimi Okunade, Esq.

In the document, the law firm stated that the gospel minister has spent almost thirty years building a reputation for integrity and public trust, protected by law, and that it had learned that false and injurious statements about her were being published and circulated across various platforms.

The notice cautioned that anyone who publishes false or malicious statements about her, whether in writing, videos, audio, social media posts or spoken words, will be held personally liable, including those who repost or amplify such content.

It further stated that using anonymous or unverified accounts does not confer immunity, as the client reserves the right to seek court orders to identify offenders through relevant platforms.

The firm also directed people who have already published such materials to remove them immediately, adding that removal would not absolve them of liability for the publication already made.

According to the notice, Alabi has instructed her lawyers to institute legal proceedings without further notice against violators and to seek aggravated damages, injunctions, retraction and public apology.

The solicitors, however, clarified that the notice is not intended to restrict truthful statements or fair comments on matters of public interest.

The notice concluded with, “All our client’s rights and remedies are expressly reserved. Be advised accordingly.”

The post comes amid a wave of videos and commentaries online targeting the singer in recent days.
