The Christian Gospel musicians in Plateau State have completed their plans to inspire survivors of attacks in various villages inside the State to hold onto their faith in God and to restore hope to Nigerians despite their country’s current economic hardships.
The performers at the Rhythm of Praise event, which has as its subject “Peace in the Storm,” explained that the purpose of the musical performance is to bring the Christian community together and serve as a reminder that God will intervene to bring an end to their struggles.
Speaking at a press conference in Jos at the weekend, Pastor Jerry Ogbeba and Benny Bello of the Rhythm of Praise and NuGroove multimedia noted that they drew inspiration from the word of God where it is expected that praises go to God in all situations as He intervene divinely to handle the challenges.
According to Bello who spoke on behalf of the duo, “Rhythm of Praise Festival by NuGroove Multimedia marks its 20th anniversary this year, and the 24th March 2024 is set aside for the Peace in the Storm concert at the Ten Commandments, Dwei-Du, Jos.
“In light of the recent events, particularly the tragic Christmas Eve Killings in parts of Bokkos and Barkin Ladi LGAs and the unrest in Mangu LGA resulting in loss of lives and faith, coupled with the prevailing economic challenges in the nation, we recognize the urgent need for divine Intervention.
“Drawing inspiration from 1 Thessalonians 5:18, which admonishes believers to give thanks to God in all circumstances, Rhythm of Praise aims to provide a platform for collective worship and supplication, seeking peace amidst the turbulent times…”
He stressed the event is not just a mere musical performance but a beacon of hope and a catalyst for positive change in the lives of the people.
The Governor of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN, Humphrey Iroegbu who also spoke assured of giving the event the necessary support because, “This is the kind of event we want to see, an event that promotes peace and unity and whatever will revive the entertainment industry in the State is welcome.”
He added that “Using music to uplift the people and give hope in the ongoing economic hardship is a way of calming the people and redirecting their focus to maintain a positive outlook.”
