Afro-dancehall legend Inetimi Alfred Odom, better known by his stage name Timaya, has talked about a memorable encounter with Grammy-winning Burna Boy and well-known singers Waje and Omawumi.

Timaya recounted a contentious studio altercation from years ago in an enthralling interview with Naija FM, Lagos.

The singer recalled the time Burna Boy, full of confidence and vision, announced outright that he would one day command the kind of success that would allow him to travel in private planes.

Even if his confidence was admirable, Omawumi and Waje were sceptical of the young artist’s bold declaration, according to Timaya.

Timaya claimed that Burna, who was driven by a strong faith in his destiny, would not accept their scepticism and insisted that they vacate the studio.

The music star described the incident as a defining chapter in Burna’s journey, a testament to the star’s unwavering resolve to manifest his dreams against all odds.

Timaya said:

“Nothing Burna Boy is doing now surprises me. The guy is fearless. There was one time when Burna Boy, Omawumi and Waje were in the studio, and he [Burna Boy] started saying that a time would come when he would be getting paid to enter jet.

“Omawumi and Waje started doubting him because then Nigerian artists hadn’t started flying private jets. He got angry and opened the studio door and asked them to leave.”
