Skit maker and actor Kamo State has shared insights into his early career ambitions, revealing that he originally aspired to become a lawyer.

However, due to financial constraints and his mother’s concerns about affording his education, he was compelled to rethink his path.

He eventually pursued the performing arts, a move that enabled him to express his creativity through content creation.

Although Kamo State began creating content as far back as 2012, he gained widespread recognition during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2019 and 2020, when his skits started attracting significant attention.

In an interview with Tobi Makinde, he said: “I really love your content for one year. Me, I’ve been doing content since 2012, yes. Man, 2012, I was seven in 2012. I’ve been creating content since 2012, but I can say my major break out happened in 2019. You guys 2020 during lockdown. Yeah, absolutely. So, basically, I wanted to be a lawyer. Yes. Yes.

“Guys, did you hear that? Guys, did you hear that? Yes, yes, but… Let me know, let me see. Kamau States wanted to be a lawyer. Is that headline? Thank you, you know the vibe. So, tell us about that. Actually, I was raised by a single mom, you know. Raising me with my siblings and my big sister.

“My siblings, generally, is so high for my mom. I got into, I got admission at the same time as my sister. It was a very difficult thing for my mom. The single mother, like, send us to school and all of that. So, I had to wait for my sister to go first. Wow, wow. And I rewrote, I wrote Jambe Day, second year. They gave me a lot. My mom called me and said, Kama, then it was like that. Thank you. Are you sure you want to do this? Who’s going to sponsor you? How do you want to do it? Wow. But I mean, I had to, like, rethink that.

“Okay, what if I pass the money, I’m not going to do it, okay?Do you get it? So, I had to, like… Actually, I studied performing arts. Okay. Do you get it? What school? Wait, you’re about to know what I mean. Ah, oh, shit. Yes, now”.
