Nigerian singer-turned-pastor, Opeyemi Gbenga Kayode, also known as Pepenazi, opened up about how God delivered him from smoking, alcohol consumption, and use of illicit substances.
He claimed that working in the secular music industry exposed him to alcohol and illegal drugs.
He clarified that the widespread belief that drugs and alcohol foster creativity is untrue.
Speaking in a video message shared via his Instagram page, Pepenazi said:
“God delivered me from alcohol, illicit drugs and smoking. There’s a lie that the devil sells, for those who know, I had a career in the secular music industry for about a decade.
“And even before I became a professional artist, while I was still in the university, there’s this lie that the devil sells to you that before you can feel really better while you’re recording and even while you’re engaging with the opposite sex, the best way is to get high.
“And the devil sold this lie through me. That was how I started drinking alcohol and engaging in things that did not glorify the name of God.”
Recall that Pepenazi’s brother, OAP Do2dtun recently disclosed the ongoing challenges he faces in gaining access to his children following his divorce from estranged wife Taiwo Oyebanjo.
After almost nine years of marriage, the couple filed for divorce in December 2022, with Oyebanjo alleging accusations of emotional abuse, domestic assault, and forced abortion as reasons for their breakup.
They are both responsible for raising two kids together.
Do2dtun stated that his children will eventually be free to choose which parent they wish to live out their adult life with.
Do2dtun said that he has always been truthful about the events leading up to the divorce and custody dispute during the interview.
He brought up the silent battle he has been waging to get back in touch with his kids.
