The American singer and actor Jamie Foxx has disclosed that he suffered a stroke after a brain bleeding that sent him to the hospital in April of last year.

Foxx, 56, claimed in a recent Netflix special that he had a severe headache one day and asked for an aspirin, but that he “blacked out for 20 days” before he could take one.

According to his daughter Corinne at the time, he had “had a medical complication.”

The Oscar-winning actor claimed that after being admitted to Piedmont Hospital, medical professionals discovered that he had a brain haemorrhage that had caused a stroke.

“It is a mystery. We still do not know exactly what happened to me,” he said.

“April 11, I was having a bad headache and I asked my boy for an aspirin. And I realised quickly that when you are in a medical emergency, your boys do not know what the f**k to do.

“Before I could get the aspirin I went out. I do not remember 20 days.”

Foxx said when he woke from the coma, he found himself in a wheelchair and unable to walk.

The singer said after the operation, doctors said he might make a full recovery “but it’s going to be the worst year of his life”.

Foxx said his family kept him out of the public eye because he was “so dizzy”. He said his daughter was concerned that people would turn him into an internet meme if they saw his condition.
