The renowned Nigerian artist Innocent Idibia popularly known as 2Baba has discussed how he handles criticism from the public.
The “African Queen” hitmaker acknowledged in a recent interview on Bingeing With Game Changers that while hurtful, unfavourable remarks do not define him as a person.
In order to deal with criticism and keep a positive outlook, the 49-year-old composer claimed to have developed a thick skin.
The musician also revealed that he finds humour in jokes about him and makes the most of every circumstance.
“For me, I just knew that I had to stand up to my responsibility. Sometimes, things happen, and people talk all kinds of jokes and malicious comments. It hurts. It gets to you sometimes,” he said.
“But know that this is the way of the world, you just have to be able to try and grow some thick skin and say ‘You know what, I am still going to keep my head high because I know that where I am going is bigger and better than all this stuff’.
“And I know that does not define me. It does not make me a monster. Within you, you have to cheer yourself up. Sometimes you watch a comedy show. Sometimes, you laugh at joke made about you. Always try to turn every situation into positive.
“For me, I know that the moment I start worrying too much, it becomes more problem. I know that there is a solution to everything that comes up.”
