How I was robbed in Lagos on Christmas eve – BBNaija’s Danboskid

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Danboskid, has shared a chilling account of a robbery he experienced on Christmas Eve, describing the incident as the most traumatic day of his life.

In a post on X, the reality TV star explained that the ordeal happened while he was returning home from an outing in Ikeja, Lagos, after choosing to ride in a tinted vehicle for privacy.

According to him, the driver stopped near the Maryland area under the guise of a mechanical problem before unexpectedly brandishing a firearm, leaving him stunned and unable to react.

He further disclosed that a second suspect later emerged from the car’s boot, after which both men calmly compelled him to unlock his phone, access his banking applications, and transfer his funds to another account.

He added that the assailants also compelled him to disable tracking features, erase his phone, and hand over his SIM card, noting that the ordeal lasted over an hour inside the vehicle.

“Another worst day of my life, lol. Just after finishing a fitting in Ikeja, I got a ride as usual to head back to my place. Obviously, I preferred a car with tinted glass for privacy and all that,” he wrote.

“Just before the Maryland highway, the driver said he wanted to check his oil because it was leaking, and we started driving back. On the service lane of the Maryland highway, he parked again like something was wrong, and the next thing he did was pull out a gun and point it at my face. It honestly felt like a movie. I was shocked and froze, not believing what I was seeing.

“Then someone pulled the back seat forward and came out from the boot of the car. It was like something straight out of a film. I was robbed very calmly, without any rush. They told me to open my phone while still pointing the gun at me and asked me to open all my banking apps.

“They took the little money I was managing my life with. I didn’t even know you could delete ride records, but they made me do that too.

“They carefully walked me through everything. I had to transfer the money to a second person’s merchant account, like paying an online wallet.

“They told me to turn off my Apple location, remove my Apple ID, wipe my phone, take out my SIM card, and hand it over (although if I didn’t wipe my phone, na so my small pre*k for cast, low key I’m glad I did cause I can’t be battling this and be scared of my noodles leaking, even if it might some day lol).

“This whole thing lasted over an hour, with me sweating inside a fully air-conditioned car.”

Danboskid revealed that the incident still feels unreal, describing the year as one that has “tested” him repeatedly.

The reality star said he shared his experience to warn others, stressing that boarding a tinted vehicle does not guarantee safety.

“After they were done, they started driving again and warned me not to shout or make any move. They said even if they were caught, I would be the one to die,” he added.

“The gun was still pointed at me. Eventually, the driver slowed down near a flyover and told me to get out. I did, and they zoomed off.

“I was still in disbelief. Honestly, I still am. This all happened just before Christmas. I’m grateful I wasn’t widely recognised, though I know a few people noticed me on the road. I walked back to my place in shock and shame, shaking and unable to contact anyone.

“It still feels unreal. I’ve slept, woken up, and it still feels like a dream. This year has tested me so much, over and over again. I was trying to get settled in Lagos, and Lagos decided to show me its own side.

“To the men who robbed me, I know this might get to you online. I will never forget your faces. Unless you leave Lagos or the country, one day I will see you again. That image isn’t leaving my head.

“I’m sharing this not for sympathy but as a warning. Being in a tinted car that isn’t yours or owned by someone you know doesn’t guarantee safety. You have no control. Please stay alert.

“I’d appreciate it if no one calls me. Texts are fine. I don’t want to relive this by talking about it over and over. Please understand.”
