Singer Fabian Blu has claimed that Naira Marley’s record label, Marlian Records, exposed him to hard drugs and other harmful habits.
This was revealed in an interview with former record label signee Fabian Blu, who was talking about his experience for the first time.
Fabian Blu vanished from the public eye in 2022 following the expiration of his contract with Naira Marley’s label.
In his most recent interview with well-known media figure Chude Jideonwo, the singer accused Naira Marley of verbal and physical abuse in addition to prejudice.
Fabian was signed to Marlian Records in 2020 and left in 2022 after his contract expired.
He released four singles under the label before his contract expired.
However, reflecting on his two-year experience at Marlian Records, Fabian accused the label of owing him royalties. He says he has not been paid a penny and when he threatened to sue them to court, Naira Marley laughed in his face.
The singer who left the same period as late Mohbad who passed away under mysterious circumstances shared the suffering and punishments he endured during his time under the label.
Fabian claimed he was tagged a lazy artiste and then sidelined because he wasn’t Yoruba or Muslim. He claimed he had to sound a certain way instead of his usual self and was maltreated in the accommodation provided. He added that when he asked for help for his mother, he was ignored and then introduced to drugs before his escape. In his words:
“I got introduced to drugs in Marlian Music. They were too gangster for me. I left the label the same year and month as Mohbad, and they spread rumors that I was mad.”
