Tanzanian music star Juma Jux has opened up about the moment he first met his wife, Priscilla Ojo, describing it as an instant connection.
Speaking in an interview with Yanga FM ahead of his Lagos performance on Thursday, Jux recalled that they met in Rwanda, noting that he had no idea she was a public figure at the time.
He said he was immediately drawn to her appearance, but stressed that her character ultimately confirmed his feelings.
The singer explained that he only became aware of her celebrity status later.
“I met Priscilla in Rwanda. I didn’t know she was a celebrity. It was love at first sight,” he said.
“When she came to Tanzania, and we went to Zanzibar, and we took a picture, that’s when I realised, after seeing a lot of blogs posting about her. I was wowed.”
Jux also spoke about how marriage has positively influenced his career, attributing his increased visibility in Nigeria to the support of his wife and her mother, Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo.
“Over 10, I can rate the impact Iyabo Ojo and Priscilla have had on my career a 6 or 7,” he explained. “I was already a star, even in Nigeria; some people knew me before, but now the fame is more because Priscilla and I are together.”
The couple’s relationship became public in July 2024 when they announced it on social media.
They celebrated their traditional and white weddings in Lagos in April, following an Islamic traditional wedding in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in February.
The wedding celebrations concluded with a grand ceremony in Tanzania in May, and the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Rakeem, in Canada in August.
