Nigerian singer, Anthony Ebuka Victor, popularly known as Victony, has credited his musical success to his hit song ‘Soweto.’

He claims that the worldwide hit song altered the course of his life.

In a recent interview with Sound City, he made this claim. According to Victony:

“Soweto’ changed my life. It changed my life in the sense that I was able to travelled to places I didn’t believe that I would get to in a very short time.

“The song was already successful in late 2022, and in 2023, we wanted to maintain that success so we employed Don Toliver and Rema on the remix. They’re very big names and their sounds are not far from what ‘Soweto’ sound like.”

Victony added that he’s currently an independent artist.

In a different story, Victony revealed that he has undergone four surgeries and has another one coming up.

Recall the singer in 2021 survived a ghastly car accident that left him in a coma for four days.

Victony during an interview on the Adesope live segment, at the Afroland festival, said he’s still in the recovery phase after four surgeries.

Speaking about his upcoming North America tour, the singer noted that he takes pain relievers before performing on stage. In Victony’s words:

“Honestly, I am blessed and the world can see. I’m still in the recovery phase but I’m still able to do this now. And I’m about to go on tour.

“Thinking about last year, even up until recently, I have done 4 surgeries and I am still going to do one more after the tour. But it’s still a blessing. Going in and out of the hospital.

“I take pain relievers before I go on stage and I still record. I thank God for his grace, it is not by power. I’m not his favourite child so I don’t know why he is blessing me,”

The singer in February 2023, announced a two-month break from music after undergoing his third surgery.
