Popular Nigerian songwriter and singer, Ezekpeazu Chike-Osebuka famously known as Chike has gifted N1 million to a critic who claimed he owed his success to the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba professionally addressed as Mohbad.

On Tuesday, the ‘Boo of the Booless’ hitmaker took to his X page to share a snippet from one of his yet-to-be-released songs.

Reacting to the tweet, the critic Daniel Omowonuola Lawal (@Hateofx) wrote: “Mohbad made you” — insinuating Chike gained fame because he collaborated with Mohbad.

Chike subtly tackled Lawal, saying he doubts the X user can be “successful on your own”.

“Your mother made you, but I hope you find somone to MAKE you coz I don’t see you doing it yourself . Jesus stays king (black love emoji),” the singer wrote.

The user fired back at Chike, arguing that Mohbad made it possible for Chike to “rake in 40 million streams” on music platforms.

Reacting, the highlife singer taunted the X user who he claimed was hungry, and mentioned sending him N1 million.

“Now I doubt your mother even made you right. If she didn’t teach you manners she should have taught you research. I for send you like 1M now, make hunger comot your eye make you see road but your account fit collapse. Let the good guy rest in peace,” he wrote.

In the heated argument, the critic sent his account details after which Chike shared a receipt of N1 million he transferred to the user with the remark: “hungry boy go and eat”.

The 31-year-old songwriter began his music career in 2015 following his participation in Project Fame.

He then became the first runner-up on The Voice of Nigeria in 2016. He is currently signed to Brothers Records.

NewsClick Nigeria reports that last December, Chike released ‘Egwu’, his chart-topping song featuring Mohbad.
